1921-1958

Captain Montagu Evans MC FRICS FAI MInstRA

Montagu Evans was born in 1889 and was the youngest of the four sons of the late Sir Edwin Evans, and studied for his professional examinations at the private firm of Parry, Blake & Parry, who were the predecessors of the College of Estate Management.

During the 1914 -1918 war he served with the Royal Field Artillery with distinction and was awarded the Military Cross. He had been elected a Fellow of the Auctioneers and Estate Agents Institute in 1914 and was elected a Fellow of the Surveyors Institution in 1918.

Captain Montagu died in 1958 with the firm sadly losing a great leader. His philosophy from the very start had been to provide a personal service to all his clients and this policy has been followed to the present day.

1958-1977

Basil Evans MBE FRICS FFAS

Basil Evans joined the firm on 1st January 1931 and soon became professional Associate of the Chartered Surveyors Institution and an Associate of the Auctioneers and Estate Agents Institute.

He became a partner on 1st February 1935 when the name of the firm was altered to Montagu Evans & Son and undertook the major part of the work connected with the Rating Revaluation in 1935.

Basil returned to the practice in 1945 having seen considerable war service, being mentioned in despatches and awarded the M.B.E. for gallant and distinguished service in Italy.

1977-1985

T Jack Nardecchia OBE BSc FRICS

Tito Jack Nardecchia joined the firm in August 1941 being one of the skeleton staff who continued to maintain the practice under Captain Evans during the difficult war years.  

Known as Jack, he joined the firm and headed up the expanding department of Mineral and Special Cases, Investment, Planning and Land Commission Departments.

Jack saw the events that defined the property industry in the 20th Century. He was one of the pre-eminent post-war planning experts.  
1985-1993

Alan Martin BL FRICS

Alan Martin was one of the outstanding Chartered Surveyors of his generation exercising a strong influence on the commercial property market and all of those lucky enough to come in contact with him.

Alan was tasked to open an office in Edinburgh for the then small practice of Montagu Evans. This he did and lead successfully for many years leading to him being appointed Managing Partner of the national practice of Montagu Evans in 1985 when he moved to London and remained there until his retirement in 1993.

1993-1999

Derek Taylor BSc FRICS

Derek was head of the very successful Planning Department within Montagu Evans before being elected Managing partner.

During his stewardship of the partnership the firm grew and worked on a number of high profile planning projects including the Eurostar links, Millennium dome and Millennium wheel. 

1999-2004

Richard Thomas BSc MA MRICS

Richard was with Montagu Evans for 27 years, becoming Head of Planning after Derek Taylor and Managing Partner in 1999. Richard is now at Welbeck Land who were clients for several years.


2004-2012

Clive Riding FRICS

Clive joined Montagu Evans in the professional department and rose to be head of department. He served thirty three years in the practice before being invited by client, Native Land, to join their expanding property company in 2012.

2012-2015

Steve Thomas BSc FRICS

Steve joined Montagu Evans in 1993 to head up the Rating Department, having previously been Head of Rating at Herring Baker Harris. Steve is brother of Richard (see above).


2015

Rob Bower MRICS

​Rob joined Montagu Evans  in 1995 and was appointed as Managing Partner in 2015. Rob was head of the very successful Professional Services Department within Montagu Evans before being elected Managing Partner. He specialises in valuation relating to commercial, residential development and investment property.
