July 19, 2017 Switching roles

Following my last blog I've now moved from Residential Development to Secured Lending - what's that you ask? In short, the team value assets for loan security purposes.

Over the last 3 months in my new role, I've already been involved in a number of different projects - including assisting with the valuation of a large residential development located near London Bridge. The secured lending team were instructed to value a mixed-use portfolio across parts of London and I was given the...

July 5, 2017 It's getting hot in here!

The sun is shining, and I'm still in my role in the corporate real estate team with market value reports flying in!

These reports require us to value a site based on what sort of development will be able to achieve the best value. It's great for valuation competency and really gets you thinking of why and what you put on the site. I've been involved in sites ranging from just a couple of houses to a huge 100+ unit residential site with a mix of flats and...

April 7, 2017 Monty's reach semi-final at JLL Football Tournament

The team of 7 Monty’s footballers headed to the JLL tournament in Shoreditch with apprehension and excitement for the matches that lay ahead. What was sure to be a stiff competition brought out the best in our competitive streaks. Pitched in a group with UWE, Oxford Brookes, Cushman and Wakefield, and the hosts, JLL, it was going to be an uphill battle to qualify for the quarter finals. Or so we thought….

Monty’s breezed past our opening two games winning 4-2 against Brookes...

April 4, 2017 In unfamiliar territory but ideal for increased experience

As I sit here writing for this blog I find myself in unfamiliar territory – surrounded by the corporate real estate team, a long distance from my first rotation in secured lending. Okay, this may be a slight exaggeration as they are merely situated directly opposite me, but the work variety is undoubtedly different, which is ideal for increasing my experience in the industry.

I had a great last few weeks with the team, once again valuing some amazing properties in prime central...

March 17, 2017 Busy busy busy

As the financial year comes to a close it has been busy busy busy here at Monties in the residential development team, but this is never a bad thing and I find it’s the best way to learn as a graduate. Since my last blog Montagu Evans have been instructed to act as the sole agent in selling Bartley House in Hook and working on this project this has been great for my agency experience. I have been heavily involved with the marketing for the site which has seen me help produce the brochure...

March 2, 2017 Moving on

The last 6 months have certainly flown by, however I guess that’s what to expect when you have been working within a busy Office Agency department. My time in the department has been extremely insightful and has enabled me to get to grips with the big smoke and settle into working life.

From attending breakfast office launches, creating availability schedules and undertaking viewing tours with clients my exposure to the central London office market has been unprecedented. This is...

February 24, 2017 Monty's at Propski 2017

Montagu Evans were represented for the fourth year running at Propski 2017, “the ski trip for property professionals to meet, compete and network with their peers.”

270 property professionals, including Annie Wilkins from Monty’s, headed to the resort of Tignes, in the Espace Killy area of France with 300 km of pistes and 90 ski lifts to explore for a week in January.

The networking began on the ‘Snow train’ with 50 propskiers taking the Eurostar directly from St...

February 21, 2017 Spending time away from the desk

My first few months of 2017 in the planning department have proven to be equally as fast-paced as 2016. I have continued to receive a fantastic exposure to all elements of the planning field and I feel my confidence in the profession is growing from strength to strength

Recently I had several of my own planning applications approved which I had submitted and processed as an agent. Receiving the approval letters was very satisfying and allowed me to reflect on my progress since starting back in...

February 14, 2017 Office towers, high end residential & everything in between...

With the much welcomed Christmas break long gone in the rear view mirror work has started coming in thick and fast again. The break provided a useful time to unwind and prepare for 2017 and the challenges to come.

Since my return I have worked on a few interesting but vastly different projects. The first project I worked on in the New Year was one close to home. In fact I can see the huge office tower from my bedroom window! Having met with the clients and been taken around the building our...

January 30, 2017 Reaching a professional milestone

After a relaxing Christmas break with family, friends and copious amounts of festive food, it has been great to get stuck into new projects and challenges at work. It’s been almost five months since I joined the planning team (doesn’t time fly) and I now feel like I am positively contributing towards new projects. There is no doubt that working directly with partners has improved my understanding and knowledge of the planning system, whilst learning from their wealth of professional ...
