Ben is a historian and researcher with an MA in Architectural History, from the Bartlett School of Architecture, and over six years’ experience working in the heritage-planning sector.

Since joining Montagu Evans, Ben has been responsible for providing advice to planners, architects and clients pertaining to the historic built environment as well as townscape and visual amenity. He is particularly interested in the sensitive adaptation and reuse of historic buildings to secure their future long-term use whilst preserving their historic and architectural significance. Research is central to Ben’s praxis in formulating advice to clients and informing development proposals, and he won the SAHGB-IHBC Heritage Research Award in 2021.

Ben is currently working across multiple sectors and has been involved in a number of prestigious projects throughout London and beyond, involving a range of complex heritage and townscape considerations. His experience ranges from advising on works to listed buildings and new development within conservation areas, to assessing the impact of tall buildings on townscape and visual amenity. He is familiar with all facets of the development process, from early-stage feasibility and viability input, to engagement with local authorities, EIA, and associated stakeholders, on to submission and post-determination advice.
